Historians were baffled this week as the Ministry of Invented Pasts — closed since 2024 for what officials called “a complete rewiring of the imagination department” — reopened with a staff of tireless clerks who never sleep, never blink, and file every fabricated century in triplicate.
“The old ministry wrote two stories a month, by hand, by candlelight,” explained the returning archivist. “The new one drafts its own ideas, paints its own illustrations, argues with itself about quality, and only rings my bell when something is actually worth reading.”
Visitors will find the archives reorganized under the familiar twelve wings, from Alternate Empires to On Tracks. Each new exhibit now ends with a brass plaque pointing to the real history that inspired it — the ministry insists the truth deserves at least a footnote.
